The door has been blown open!
The Courier Mail has leaked that there are plans to build a new railway station to service the Victoria Park Olympic Stadium. SEQTA wants to make it clear: This is a fundamentally necessary decision that the Queensland Government needs to make to ensure the smooth delivery of the stadium. The stadium, announced as part of the LNP Government’s Olympic plan, still does not have its spot announced to the public yet; however, it is due to start construction soon to ensure delivery for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics. SEQTA wants to make it clear: 💬 A high-capacity, purpose-built railway station connected to the new Victoria Park stadium is an essential requirement for a smooth delivery. All that’s left to do is for the Government to confirm and announce the new station to the public; however, it’s not all smooth sailing. Deputy Premier Jarod Bleijie stated, “Despite some wonderful pictures I’ve seen in the media today, no location has been chosen for the site of Victoria Park stadium”, stating that the decision to include a train station had not yet been decided. Regardless, SEQTA encourages and welcomes the idea of a station connected to the new stadium; it just needs to happen by 2032.
