On Monday, June 30th, in the early hours of the morning, Metro 1 (M1) will officially begin service, marking a major milestone for Brisbane’s transport network. Brisbane City Council describes it as “the next step” in transforming how the city moves. It’s the start of a new era for public transport in Brisbane. Quieter, smoother, and hopefully way more reliable. Here at SEQTA, We agree, however, we urge Brisbane City Council to not stop here. There is still work to be done, such as:
- 🚊 • Carseldine Metro
- 🚌 • Redlands Metro
- 🏢 • Greatly Improving Northside connectivity
- ⛰️ • Greatly Improving Western connectivity
- 🚄 • Focus on how to link the Bus Network and the Train Network better
We urge the council to expand the busway and better-connect the city to take Brisbane into 2032. Otherwise, we welcome Brisbane’s New Bus Network, and look forward to its ongoing service, starting June 30th.
