PROJECT UPDATE 🫨
We're locked in for a new stadium in Brisbane City with the Queensland Government, this week, announcing new information regarding the planned Olympic Stadium for Brisbane, as well as brand new concept images.
The location will be near Gilchrist Avenue, towards a "central location" of Vic Park. This is suspected to be a short(ish) walk from Herston Bus Station. However, no new train station is currently planned for the Olympic Games.
We understand early works to construct the stadium will begin in June this year.
Quotes attributable to Imogen Buckley, Lead Founder @ SEQTA:
The South-East Queensland Transport Association supports the delivery of Olympic infrastructure, but __we must not lose sight of providing a lasting legacy for Brisbane City.__
Residents overwhelmingly support the Olympic Games, on the condition that they deliver long-term benefits. We have the opportunity to create lasting infrastructure, just as seen during the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, but that requires real effort now.
We must focus on transport upgrades, economic growth, and especially housing, not only to support the Olympics, but to deliver long-term benefits for Brisbane.
