Good Morning Queensland! Today marks a landmark day in our transport network as we see the opening of Queensland's first new train station in nearly a decade, and Gold Coast's first new station since 2009. Pimpama Station will do great strides to connect thousands of people weekly to a train service they previously didn’t have easy access to. A beautiful station, Pimpama is the first of three new stations in the Gold Coast region confirmed as part of Cross River Rail. These new stations are set to transform the region and get more people on track. The construction of Pimpama Station is truly a win for everybody, whether you are gearing up to take this station in your daily commute or you are going to continue to drive through peak-hour traffic. With 380 car parks, that is 380 cars no longer on the road, with even more cars taken off through the six rerouted buses to service this station. This station is set to be a major boost for the Gold Coast transport network, the first of three boosts. We welcome this new station and urge our Government to take the station’s success and replicate it across the region in projects such as:
- “The Wave”, a project with four new train stations on the Sunshine Coast.
- Springfield to Ripley train service providing several new train stations for the underfunded yet populated region.
- Reconsidering decisions like scrapping Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 4, and “The Wave” Stage 3 (Metro).
For residents in Pimpama, this is a big day. But for advocates and enthusiasts in general, this is an optimistic look at what we hope is the start of a multi‑year transport revitalisation to get this city on‑track and ready for the Brisbane 2032 Olympics. It is of utmost importance our city shines on the world stage, and whether it's a major underground railway, or a simple suburban train station to get more people connected, this should be applauded and we should use this success to build a better network, build a better Brisbane, and build a city that works for everyone.

Pimpama Station is a much‑needed addition to the Gold Coast rail service and we are so glad to finally see it open. At SEQTA one of our primary goals is connecting communities, and Pimpama is the first of many major steps in achieving this so we are so happy to see it open.
With the station now officially open, it's time to look forward to the other Gold Coast stations in the following years and getting Cross River Rail back on track and open well before the Brisbane Olympics, to transform our state.
